An Israeli newspaper commented on the new weapon unveiled by the Sana’a Government Forces, stating that this type of weapon is difficult for U.S. naval forces and their allies to detect.
The Israeli newspaper “Jerusalem Post” reported that the new unmanned boats unveiled by the Sana’a forces, or what they called the “Houthis,” have “proven more effective in attacks on ships than drones and ballistic missiles.”
It added, “Large commercial ships have no defenses against unmanned boats launched from Yemen and are unlikely to be able to escape them.”
The Israeli newspaper confirmed that “it is difficult for U.S. naval forces and their allies to detect unmanned boats in a vast area such as the coast of Yemen or the Red Sea.”
The Sana’a naval forces earlier revealed the “Tufan Destroyer” boat, noting its high destructive capability and advanced technology.
The Sana’a Government’s Saba news agency stated that this unveiling is the fourth during the past June of a distinctive weapon as part of the battle to support Gaza, having previously announced the “Palestine” ballistic missile, the “Tufan1” boat, and then the “Hatim2” hypersonic ballistic missile.
The agency explained that the “Tufan Destroyer” is a locally-made unmanned attack boat equipped with a warhead weighing 1000-1500 kg, advanced technology enabling manual and remote control, a speed of 45 nautical miles per hour, and operates in all marine conditions.
The media wing of the Sana’a forces displayed footage showing an operation by the “Tufan Destroyer” targeting the “Transworld Navigator” ship in the Red Sea last week.
Since late last year, the Sana’a Government Forces began striking Israeli targets in the occupied Palestinian territories and targeting Israeli and affiliated ships in the Red and Arabian seas before announcing the extension of their operations to parts of the Indian Ocean. Recently, they announced the start of the fourth escalation phase against ships “even to the Mediterranean” in support of Palestinians in Gaza. They assert that their operations against “Israel” will continue, conditioned on “ending the aggression and lifting the siege on Gaza” to stop their military operations “supporting Gaza.”
In response, the U.S. and Britain launched airstrikes on Yemen, prompting the Sana’a Government Forces to announce that their operations would target American and British commercial and military ships in retaliation for what they called the “American-British aggression.”
The European Union announced on February 19, 2024, the launch of a military operation named “Aspides,” led by Italy in the Red Sea. The United States announced the launch of an operation named “Prosperity Guard,” aiming to counter the attacks by the Sana’a Government Forces against “Israel.”
