Unprecedented Internal Escalation… Hebrew Newspaper Warns of a “Historic Catastrophe” Threatening Israel Due to Netanyahu’s Policies
Maariv: Internal divisions are more dangerous than external threats… War management deepens chaos within decision-making institutions

NYN | Reports and Analyses
The Hebrew newspaper Maariv has warned that the policies led by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are pushing Israel toward the most dangerous path in its history, amid an unprecedented escalation of internal political and security crises.
Internal Division… The Most Dangerous Threat
The newspaper emphasized that the sharp societal division within Israel has become the primary threat, warning of what it described as the “collapse of the Third Temple,” referring to the possibility of internal disintegration that could strike the structure of Israeli society.
It explained that the growing polarization is no longer just a series of temporary political disagreements, but has turned into a deep fracture threatening the stability of the state and its institutions, as a result of the current government’s policies, which—according to its wording—are leading the country down a “path of ruin.”
War Management Deepens the Crisis
In a related context, the newspaper pointed out that Netanyahu’s handling of the current phase—especially amid the war on Gaza and regional tensions—has intensified confusion within decision-making circles.
It added that the absence of a clear strategic vision for the trajectory of military escalation further complicates the situation, placing political and military institutions before overlapping challenges without decisive solutions.
Conflict Within Decision-Making Institutions
The assessment highlighted the growing disagreements between the political and military levels in Israel, alongside increasing criticism directed at the government regarding its management of the war and its consequences.
It noted that these divisions are not limited to the ruling elite but extend to Israeli public opinion, reflecting a state of declining trust in the current political leadership.
Warnings of Unprecedented Scenarios
The newspaper concluded its warnings by stressing that the continuation of the current approach could lead Israel to face unprecedented political and security challenges, amid the erosion of internal cohesion and a declining ability to manage successive crises.
According to these assessments, the coming phase may witness further complications unless internal divisions are contained and a clear strategy is reformulated to address existing challenges.
