New Maritime Target Struck for the First Time in the Red Sea

Yahya Saree Announces the Burning and Sinking of More Than 10 Warboats Linked to Saudi Buildups in the Red Sea

Sanaa forces revealed the targeting of a new type of maritime asset in the Red Sea, in a development they described as part of their military operations against Saudi buildups and allied forces.

The spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, stated that Yemeni forces recently targeted Saudi-linked naval movements. He noted that these assets were executing what Sanaa described as acts of “piracy, interception, and looting” in the Red Sea under Saudi directives.

Saree: Burning and Sinking of Over 10 Warboats

Providing a tally of operations conducted against Saudi Arabia and its allied forces since July 20, Saree explained that the Yemeni Armed Forces managed to “burn and sink more than ten warboats belonging to the Saudi enemy’s buildups.”

According to the statements, the targeted warboats were active in maritime operational zones in the Red Sea as part of missions Sanaa characterized as tied to Saudi military movements.

A Previously Unannounced Maritime Target

The announcement carries particular significance as it involves targeting warboats linked to Saudi troop buildups—a category of naval targets that had not been previously announced in this manner in earlier statements by Sanaa forces.

Previous statements had focused primarily on naval warships and commercial cargo vessels that Sanaa claimed were bound to or from Saudi ports, or were operating in violation of the navigation ban issued by Yemeni forces.

Escalation in the Nature of Naval Operations

The new announcement highlights a broadening range of targets that Sanaa claims have fallen within its sphere of naval operations in the Red Sea, coinciding with ongoing military tension in the region.

Sanaa forces maintain that their naval operations come in response to hostile military maneuvers, while specific details regarding the exact locations targeted and the extent of damage to the warboats require independent field verification.
