NYN | News | Exclusive:

Iranian politician and editor-in-chief of Al-Wafaq newspaper, Mokhtar Haddad, stated that the forces of the Sana’a government have “broken Zionist, American, and British hegemony in the region.”

In an interview with “Arab Journal,” Haddad mentioned that “the Yemeni armed forces have shattered Zionist, American, and British hegemony in the Red Sea, and today the Americans and the British are in their weakest state,” according to his expression.

He added that “the Yemenis have managed to economically besiege the Zionist entity and have created a major economic crisis within it. They have also been able to confront the Americans and the British in their support of Gaza.”

Since mid-October of last year, the forces of the Sana’a government have carried out military operations against “Israel” and have prevented Israeli ships or those associated with it from crossing the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea. They have made it a condition for ceasing their operations that “the aggression on Gaza be stopped and the blockade be lifted,” as stated in the military statements broadcast by the spokesman for the forces of the Sana’a government, Yahya Saree, following the execution of any military operation.

In response, the European Union announced on February 19, 2024, the launch of a military operation named “Aspides” led by Italy in the Red Sea. The United States also announced the launch of an operation named “Guardian of Prosperity” aimed at countering the attacks launched by the forces of the Sana’a government against “Israel,” in addition to the airstrikes carried out by the United States and Britain in Yemen. This prompted the forces of the Sana’a government to include American and British ships, whether commercial or military, in the target list and prevent them from crossing the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea.
