“Axios” from American officials: Biden believes that the ceasefire in Gaza will stop Houthi attacks in the Red Sea

The American website Axios quoted US officials as saying that “US President Joe Biden personally participated in intensive efforts to reach an agreement on prisoners and a ceasefire in Gaza,” amid the ongoing Israeli war on the Strip since October 7th, against the backdrop of a humanitarian catastrophe being experienced by the Palestinians.

According to the website, the White House believes that a ceasefire, as part of a swap deal, will extinguish further fires in the region.

They said that US President Joe Biden “believes that a ceasefire in Gaza will stop Houthi attacks on ships in the Red Sea and believes that the agreement may keep Israel and Hezbollah away from the brink of war.”

Since mid-October of last year, the forces of the Sana’a government have begun to carry out military operations against “Israel” and have prevented Israeli ships or those affiliated with it from crossing the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea, contingent upon stopping their operations being “the cessation of aggression on Gaza and the lifting of the blockade,” as stated in the military data broadcast by the spokesperson for the Sana’a government forces, Yahya Saree, following the execution of any military operation.

On the other hand, the European Union announced on February 19, 2024, the launch of a military operation called “Aspides,” led by Italy in the Red Sea, while the United States announced the launch of an operation called “Guardian of Prosperity,” aimed at countering the attacks launched by the forces of the Sana’a government against “Israel,” in addition to the airstrikes carried out by America and Britain in Yemen, which prompted the forces of the Sana’a government to include American and British ships, whether commercial or military, in the targeting circle and prevent them from crossing the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea.
