Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi affirmed on Tuesday that the situation in the Red Sea is linked to the war in Gaza, emphasizing the necessity of a ceasefire in Gaza.
This statement came during his meeting with Shaia al-Zandani, the Foreign Minister of the Aden government.
The Chinese Foreign Minister said, “The tense situation in the Red Sea is a clear reflection of the extension of the conflict in Gaza,” adding that “the urgent task is to promote an immediate ceasefire in Gaza,” and that “China calls for ensuring the safety of waterways in the Red Sea,” according to the Chinese agency Xinhua.
He also confirmed that China “hopes that all parties in the Yemen crisis adhere to a political settlement, continue to resolve disputes and differences through dialogue and negotiation, and strive for early reconciliation.”
