Sputnik: US Pressuring to Sabotage Peace Negotiations in Yemen

NYN | News

The Russian agency “Sputnik” reported statements from Abdul Karim Al-Saadi, head of the Southern Civil Forces Assembly in Yemen, regarding the operations conducted by the Sana’a government forces against “Israel,” the ban they imposed on Israeli ships, and the naval battle they are waging with the US, Britain, and several European countries, as well as issues related to peace negotiations and American interference to obstruct them.

According to the Russian agency, Al-Saadi confirmed that: “What is happening in the Red Sea, with the escalation from the Yemeni ‘Ansar Allah’ group against America, is expected as a reaction to the escalation and pressures from the United States.”

He added that “the pressures exerted in recent days and weeks on the Yemeni ‘Ansar Allah’ group from the American side will only lead to escalation from Sana’a, which is a natural response given the American intervention and pressure on Saudi Arabia to delay the settlement with ‘Ansar Allah.’ The goal of Sana’a’s escalation in the Red Sea is to pressure the American side.”

Al-Saadi continued: “The battle today has become regionally and locally intertwined, and every regional movement has an impact on the Yemeni conflict, especially from the parties participating in the Yemen war, such as Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, which are active parties. Consequently, their behavior is met with a reaction within Yemen.”

The head of the Civil Forces Assembly said: “We did not expect more than this from our brothers in the ‘Ansar Allah’ group in facing the pressures they are under. I believe that if the US administration does not withdraw from its intervention in the Yemeni issue in a peaceful manner, the responses will be stronger. I expect that we will return once again to the previous situation in Yemen, especially in the fronts that have seen a halt in battles for some time, and ‘Ansar Allah’ has no option but to defend against these pressures.”

Al-Saadi stressed that “Yemen aspires to any initiative that primarily stops the war and begins to restore state institutions after 10 years of war, during which the goals that all conflicting parties want to achieve have not been clear. To date, we do not see a goal or what these militias and their regional sponsors want. The only thing we can judge is that they want a destroyed, weak, inactive, and crippled Yemen.”

The head of the Civil Forces Assembly said: “After the suffering that our people continue to endure, we do not want solutions that return us to the starting point of the conflict. We want solutions that end the conflict and provide resolutions, and this will not be achieved except by stopping the war and engaging with the genuine national forces that the regional parties fought and expelled from Aden, Sana’a, and all parts of Yemen because they refused to accept their expansionist projects in Yemen.”

Al-Saadi pointed out that “everything impacts the situation in Yemen. Here we see the Yemeni ‘Ansar Allah’ group refusing to comply with the American desire to halt operations in the Red Sea, the Arabian Sea, and Bab al-Mandeb. Washington then pressured Saudi Arabia. In the latest statements from the US ambassador to Yemen, he said that peace in Yemen cannot be achieved because it gives the upper hand to the Yemeni ‘Ansar Allah’ group. We have not heard this tone from the American side until after ‘Ansar Allah’ rejected the American demands and allowed the continuation of extermination operations in the occupied territories.”
