Media reported that American and British airstrikes were carried out this Friday evening on the capital Sanaa and the city of Hodeidah, while the Sanaa government forces announced an imminent military statement to be broadcast tonight.
According to media sources, the American and British aircraft conducted four airstrikes targeting the maintenance camp located in the Al-Nahda neighborhood in central Sanaa, coinciding with the launch of a large march in support of Gaza in Al-Sabeen Square and other marches in several cities and governorates.
In Hodeidah, according to Al-Masirah channel affiliated with the Ansar Allah movement (Houthis), it was reported: “The American-British aggression carried out four airstrikes on Hodeidah Airport and one on the fishing boats dock at Al-Salif Port.”
Furthermore, the spokesperson for the Sanaa government forces, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, announced a “significant statement from the Yemeni Armed Forces at 8 PM local time in the capital, Sanaa.”
Yesterday, Thursday, the Sanaa government forces announced in a statement that they had carried out “two joint military operations with the Iraqi Islamic Resistance; the first targeted two ships carrying military equipment in Haifa Port, and the second targeted a ship violating the entry ban into Haifa Port in occupied Palestine with several drones, with precise hits,” indicating that the operations came as “victory for the oppressed Palestinian people and in response to the American-British aggression.”
The statement added: “The joint Haifa Port operation is a response to the Israeli enemy’s massacres in the Rafah area, and the Israeli enemy should expect more unique joint operations in the coming period until it stops its brutal, criminal aggression and lifts the siege on our brothers in the Gaza Strip,” calling on “all Arab armies to participate in support operations for the Palestinian resistance as a religious and humanitarian duty towards the Palestinian people.”
Since late last year, the Sanaa government forces have announced targeting Israeli targets in the occupied Palestinian territories and Israeli-related ships in the Red and Arabian Seas, before announcing the extension of their operations to parts of the Indian Ocean. Recently, they announced the beginning of the fourth phase of escalation against ships “up to the Mediterranean Sea” to support Palestinians in Gaza. They assert that their operations against “Israel” will continue, conditional upon “ending the aggression and lifting the siege on Gaza” to stop their military operations “supporting Gaza.”
In response, America and Britain launched airstrikes on Yemen, prompting the Sanaa government forces to announce that their operations would include targeting American and British commercial and military ships in response to what they called the “American-British aggression.”
The European Union announced on February 19, 2024, the launch of a military operation named “Aspides,” led by Italy in the Red Sea, while the United States announced the launch of an operation named “Guardian of Prosperity,” aimed at countering the attacks carried out by the Sanaa government forces against “Israel.”
