Chinese Report: U.S. Inability Revealed by Houthi Attacks in Yemen

A Chinese news agency published a report indicating that the United States has adopted a policy of silence regarding the strikes its forces have received in the Red Sea from the Yemeni armed forces led by the Houthis, according to the Chinese report.

The report highlighted that the U.S. military has employed what it called a “strategy of silence” in the face of continuous attacks from the Yemeni armed forces (Houthis) in the Red Sea region, raising questions about the effectiveness and direction of U.S. foreign policy in the area.

According to the report, “the U.S. military previously followed a policy of immediate response to any attack targeting it, but in light of the recent attacks by the Houthis, the Americans chose to remain silent, raising questions about the reasons behind this shift in military policy.”

The report noted that “the Houthi armed forces have launched two anti-ship ballistic missiles in the Red Sea, without causing any damage or losses to U.S. ships and coalition forces. Despite the repeated attacks, the U.S. military has not taken any military action in response to these attacks,” in contrast to Washington’s military responses in its previous wars where it acted with excessive force to intimidate its adversaries. However, the situation is different with the Yemeni forces. According to the Chinese site, this is because “the Yemeni armed forces (Houthis) possess a wide range of offensive tactics, making traditional military response ineffective against them. Thus, the U.S. military’s choice of silence reflects an inability to direct its strategy to confront the new threats it faces in the region.”

The recent developments have raised questions about the United States’ ability to confront security challenges in the Middle East, especially given the waning U.S. support for its traditional allies in the region and its shift toward a silent policy without direct military response.

Amid these developments, concerns are growing among Americans and their regional allies about the future of U.S. dominance in the Middle East.
