Breaking: Sanaa Forces Announce Series of Military Operations, Including One in the Mediterranean Sea

NYN | Breaking News

The Sanaa government forces announced this evening, Monday, the execution of a series of military operations targeting two ships in the Red Sea and another operation in the Mediterranean Sea in coordination with the “Iraqi Islamic Resistance.”

The spokesperson for the Sanaa forces, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, stated in a declaration: “The naval forces, the drone air force, and the missile force of the Yemeni armed forces carried out a joint operation using several boats, drones, and ballistic missiles targeting the ship ‘BENTLEY I’ in the Red Sea.” He added that another oil tanker, “CHIOS Lion,” was targeted in the Red Sea by an unmanned boat, confirming that the hit was “precise and direct.”

He explained that the targeting of these ships was due to the owning companies violating the ban on entering the ports of occupied Palestine.

The statement further mentioned, “A third operation was carried out by the Yemeni armed forces in collaboration with the Iraqi Islamic Resistance in the Mediterranean Sea, targeting the ship (Olvia) and successfully achieving its objective.”

The operations were described as “a victory for the oppressed Palestinian people and a response to the ‘al-Mawasi’ massacre in Khan Yunis committed by the Israeli enemy.”

The statement concluded by saying: “The continued Israeli aggression and massacres against our brothers in Gaza will only lead the Yemeni people, their armed forces, and their faithful, struggling leadership to further support operations and joint actions with the Iraqi Islamic Resistance in support of the oppressed Palestinian people. These operations will not cease until the aggression stops and the siege on the Palestinian people in Gaza is lifted.”

Since late last year, the Sanaa government forces have started targeting Israeli objectives in the occupied Palestinian territories and attacking Israeli and related ships in the Red and Arabian Seas, eventually extending their operations to part of the Indian Ocean. Recently, they announced the start of the fourth phase of escalation against ships “up to the Mediterranean” to support the Palestinians in Gaza. They affirm that their operations against “Israel” will continue, conditional upon “ending the aggression and lifting the siege on Gaza” to halt their military operations “in support of Gaza.”

In response, the United States and Britain launched air strikes on Yemen, prompting the Sanaa government forces to declare that their operations would include targeting U.S. and British commercial and military ships in retaliation for what they termed “American-British aggression.”

On February 19, 2024, the European Union announced the launch of a military operation named “Aspides,” led by Italy in the Red Sea. The United States also announced the launch of an operation named “Guardian of Prosperity,” both aiming to counter the attacks by the Sanaa government forces against “Israel.”
