The United Nations Security Council is set to hold a special session on Thursday, November 13, to review developments in the Yemeni crisis, with a focus on the escalating political, military, humanitarian, and economicdimensions.

The session will begin with an open briefing, during which UN Special Envoy to Yemen Hans Grundberg and a representative from the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) will deliver updates on the latest situation in the country. This will be followed by a closed meeting to discuss core issues related to the Yemeni conflict.

The agenda includes a vote on a draft resolution to renew the financial sanctions and travel ban regime imposed on Yemen for another year, as well as to extend the mandate of the Panel of Experts assisting the Sanctions Committee until December 15.

Council members will also discuss internal tensions and the stalemate in political settlement efforts, alongside the military escalation in several areas and ongoing international efforts to resume negotiations aimed at ending the war that has persisted for nearly a decade.

In addition, the session will address the worsening humanitarian crisis and the rising levels of food insecurity, driven by severe shortages in international funding and restrictions on humanitarian operations.
