Early Warning Raises Alert Level in Yemen

NYN | News

The highlands and several Yemeni governorates are expected to experience cold to very cold weather conditions in the coming hours, amid warnings of possible frost formation in some areas, according to estimates from the National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning.

The Center indicated that minimum temperatures in the governorates of Sana’a, Dhamar, Amran, Al-Bayda, and Saadamay range between 2 and 5 degrees Celsius, with a chance of frost forming in limited parts of these areas.

Cold weather is also expected to prevail in the highlands of Ibb, Al-Dhale, Lahj, Abyan, Shabwah, Hadhramaut, and the western parts of Marib and Al-Jawf, where minimum temperatures are likely to range between 6 and 10 degrees Celsius.

The Center urged citizens—especially the elderly, children, patients, and early-morning workers—to take precautions against the intense cold. It also advised farmers to protect their crops from possible frost damage in the coming hours.
