Houthis Await Signal from al-Qassam to Launch Attack

NYN | News

A new Associated Press report has shed light on the halt of Sana’a forces’ attacks against Israel in the Red Sea, coinciding with the continuation of the fragile truce in the Gaza Strip.

The agency explained that the Houthi movement (“Ansar Allah”) had sent an undated message to the al-Qassam Brigades, confirming that it had suspended its naval operations since the ceasefire began on October 10, and that it would resume them if al-Qassam requested — a move interpreted as a sign of Sana’a’s commitment to the ongoing truce.

The report added that Sana’a’s forces gained international prominence during the Israel–Hamas war, after carrying out naval and aerial attacks against Israeli targets and affiliated vessels, as part of what they described as “support operations for Gaza”, aimed at pressuring Tel Aviv to stop the fighting.

Observers believe this development marks a phase of field and political repositioning for Sana’a’s forces, amid signs of shifting rules of engagement in the Red Sea, particularly as regional mediations enter the crisis.
