From Ethiopia to Ibb… Black Dust Covers the City and Alarms Residents

NYN | News

A dense volcanic cloud surprised western and central Yemen after the eruption of the Erta Ale volcano in Ethiopia’s Afar region, covering the skies of several Yemeni governorates despite the geographical distance.

The black dust carried from the volcano reached Al-Hodeidah governorate this evening, while activists on social media confirmed that the dust had fallen extensively across neighborhoods in the city of Ibb.

The Yemeni Geological Authority warned of the impacts of the volcanic activity in Ethiopia on Yemen, confirming that the phenomenon could lead to significant environmental changes in affected areas.

Experts expect the volcanic cloud’s effects to continue across surrounding regions, urging residents to exercise caution and take measures to protect their health and safety.
