Sana’a has issued a strong military message to Washington in response to the U.S. designation of the Houthi group (Ansar Allah) as a terrorist organization.
Sana’a’s forces announced in a military statement that their air defenses successfully shot down an advanced American MQ-9 drone while it was carrying out hostile missions within Yemeni airspace over Al Hudaydah governorate.
The Fifteenth Drone Since the Start of the Conflict
According to the issued military statement, this drone marks the fifteenth to be downed during the “Promised Victory and Sacred Jihad” battle, which is part of what Sana’a forces described as “support and reinforcement for the fighters in Gaza and Lebanon.”
Military sources in Sana’a confirmed that the downing of this drone represents a significant development in Yemen’s air defense capabilities, especially as MQ-9 drones are considered some of the most advanced and dangerous drones in the world, widely used in reconnaissance and precision strikes.
Warning Messages and Readiness for Escalation
Sana’a’s forces pointed out in their statement that they remain committed to their defensive missions to counter any aggression on Yemeni territory. They emphasized that they are closely monitoring hostile movements in the Red and Arabian Seas and are fully prepared to respond to any potential developments in the coming period.
The Yemen New News website had exclusively reported the downing of the drone in the past few hours, and the military statement later confirmed the website’s credibility in delivering the information.
