Abdul Bari Taher: Yemen Pays the Price of a U.S.-Israeli Plan to Destroy Arab States

Former head of the Yemeni Journalists Syndicate and prominent intellectual Abdul Bari Taher has warned of the dangers of continued U.S. escalation in Yemen, describing it as an aggression targeting residential areas and threatening the security and stability of a country already besieged and at war for over a decade.

In statements to Al-Quds Al-Arabi newspaper, Taher said that the ongoing American airstrikes, which have lasted for weeks, have hit numerous provinces, focusing on civilian areas and residential buildings. He noted that the consequences are catastrophic for a poor and blockaded country already suffering from a devastating war.

He added: “The bombings have targeted the capital Sanaa, Saada, Hodeidah, and Al-Jawf, along with the destruction of communication towers in Ibb and Amran, even civilian vehicles. The majority of the victims are civilians — women, children, and the elderly.”

Taher linked the U.S. escalation in Yemen to the genocide in Gaza, asserting that the wars in the region — from Gaza to Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen — are all part of a joint U.S.-Israeli project aimed at dismantling Arab states and keeping their peoples in a state of perpetual conflict.

He explained that this plan aligns with the so-called “New Middle East” project, promoted by Shimon Peres, Benjamin Netanyahu, and Donald Trump, which seeks to displace the Palestinian people, dismantle national entities, and return the region to sectarian, tribal, and ethnic warfare.

Taher added: “The U.S. is exerting heavy pressure on Egypt and Saudi Arabia to become involved in the war on Yemen under the pretext of protecting international navigation. But in reality, Washington only cares about Israel’s security and the displacement of Palestinians to Sinai, even advancing the Ben-Gurion Canal project as an alternative to the Suez Canal.”

Taher strongly criticized former U.S. President Donald Trump, saying: “He acts as if he’s a divine savior for America and the world — a mentality reminiscent of fascist and Nazi rhetoric.”

“He is a leader who adopts a mindset of absolute global domination and resource exploitation, just like the far-right Zionist movement in Israel.”

Taher concluded his remarks by stressing that escalating the aggression on Yemen will only drag the region into a wider conflict, warning that the schemes of Washington and Tel Aviv do not target a single country, but the entire Arab nation.
