The leader of Ansar Allah, Sayyid Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, outlined the main reasons why Yemen is taking the Israeli presence in the separatist region of “Somaliland” seriously, emphasizing that developments there represent a dangerous escalation affecting the security of Yemen and the peoples of the entire region.

Direct Threat to Yemen and the Region

Sayyid al-Houthi explained that the Israeli presence in Somaliland constitutes a direct threat to Yemen’s national security, as well as to the security of the broader region, given its serious military and intelligence implications.

Targeting the Somali People

The Ansar Allah leader also noted that this presence does not only threaten Yemen but also targets the Muslim Somali population. He described it as part of projects aimed at destabilizing the region and controlling strategic locations in the Horn of Africa.

Link to U.S. Role and Use of Regional Proxies

He pointed out that Israeli activity in Somaliland is closely linked to U.S. operations in the region, as well as efforts to deploy regional actors to serve broader projects of dominance and control.

Yemeni Readiness and Continuous Monitoring

Sayyid Abdul-Malik al-Houthi affirmed Yemen’s serious stance in supporting the Somali people, stressing that Yemen continues to enhance its capabilities to monitor and track Israeli movements in the region.

Explicit Warning Against Military Presence

He concluded by emphasizing Yemen’s full seriousness in responding to any Israeli military presence, warning that any fixed military base or permanent Zionist presence in the separatist Somaliland region would be considered a legitimate target.
