Israeli media reported on Tuesday afternoon that the Israeli Air Force launched airstrikes on the Qatari capital, Doha, in what has been described as an attempt to assassinate senior leaders of the Hamas movement.
Channel 12 quoted a senior official saying that the explosions that rocked Doha were part of a direct attempt to target members of Hamas’s political bureau. Meanwhile, Channel 14 confirmed that the operation was carried out using fighter jets.
The Israeli occupation army officially claimed responsibility for the attack, confirming that it had targeted sites inside the Qatari capital—a move that sparked widespread regional and international shock.
For its part, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a strongly worded statement, condemning the “cowardly” attack, which targeted residential buildings housing several members of Hamas’s political bureau. The ministry described the strike as a blatant violation of international law and a serious threat to the safety and security of civilians in Qatar.
The statement added that security and civil defense forces immediately began responding to the incident and took the necessary measures to ensure the safety of residents and surrounding areas. Doha stressed that it would not tolerate this reckless Israeli behavior, which poses a danger to regional stability, noting that investigations are ongoing and additional details will be announced once available.
