Invisible Attack in Yemeni Waters… Who Is Behind It?

NYN | News

The British maritime trade authority reported on Monday evening that a fire broke out on a new ship after it was attacked off the coast of Yemen in the Gulf of Aden.

In a statement posted on the “X” platform, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said it had received a report about an incident that occurred 128 nautical miles southeast of the Yemeni city of Aden.

The statement explained that the ship’s captain reported seeing an explosion and smoke rising on the horizon behind the vessel’s location.

In a later update, the authority indicated that the ship had sustained a direct hit by an unidentified projectile, which led to the outbreak of fire, according to incoming reports.

The authority confirmed that relevant bodies have begun investigating the circumstances of the incident, urging ships in the area to exercise the highest levels of caution and to immediately report any suspicious activity to the UKMTO.
