Peaceful protest sit-ins were held today, Tuesday, in the areas of Houra and Al-Qatn in Wadi Hadhramaut, in response to a call by the Preparatory Committee, demanding the legitimate rights of teachers—foremost among them, the payment of suspended salaries and the improvement of living conditions.
Protesters carried banners and slogans appealing to local authorities and the government to urgently respond to their demands, stressing that the official bodies bear full responsibility for the ongoing crisis.
The protests saw broad participation from educational, human rights, and cultural figures, who expressed full support for the teachers’ demands. They emphasized that ignoring these calls poses a real threat to the future of education in the country and the coming generations.
These demonstrations come as part of ongoing efforts to highlight the issue of teachers—considered a national cause that touches the core of development and the future of Yemen.
