The Lebanese newspaper Al-Binaa warned of the expanding scope of the military confrontation between the United States and Iran, considering that the region now stands on the brink of an all-out war as the conflict shifts into new arenas, amid ongoing military operations and growing fears of severe repercussions for global navigation and energy security.
In a report covering the developments of the seventh day of the military confrontation, the newspaper stated that the regional scene is witnessing a notable shift. The focus is no longer solely on the scale of mutual strikes, but rather on their expanding geographical reach—having extended to Syria, Iraq, and the northern Indian Ocean, coinciding with heightened mobilization in Yemen.
Expanding Scope of Engagement
The report explained that the confrontation has surpassed its traditional military framework, evolving into a battle to redefine regional balances of power and rules of engagement, at a time when diplomatic avenues have receded in the face of escalating field operations.
It added that recent hours saw significant developments, including the targeting of a US base in Syria’s Al-Tanf region, alongside positions belonging to Kurdish opposition groups and the US Consulate in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
