Data and media reports indicated that the Saudi-led coalition intensified its preparations over recent weeks to mobilize fighting fronts inside Yemen, through military meetings and field movements viewed as groundwork for a new ground escalation against Sana’a government forces.
According to reports circulated by Saudi media and outlets loyal to the coalition, a military meeting was held on July 25, 2026, in Marib Governorate. The meeting brought together the commander of coalition forces in the governorate, Fares Al-Shammari, with several military commanders belonging to the internationally recognized government—a meeting described by those media outlets as aimed at discussing arrangements for the upcoming phase.
Saudi newspapers highlighted the meeting as a significant milestone in the escalation process. The newspaper Ajel published a headline stating, “The Houthis Believe in Nothing but the Option of War,” in reference to the mounting military tensions.
Sanaa Announces Foiling of the Mobilization
Approximately ten days after that meeting, the Armed Forces affiliated with the Sana’a government announced the execution of a large-scale military operation using a number of ballistic missiles and drones, targeting coalition camps and weapons depots in the eastern regions adjacent to the Saudi border.
The spokesperson for the Armed Forces, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, stated that the operation came in response to what he described as military mobilizations and attempts to reignite the fighting fronts. He emphasized that the forces monitored those movements and dealt with them before they entered the execution phase.
Sana’a: Escalation Linked to Attempts to Break Operations Lifting the Blockade
Saree added that the Saudi military movements come as part of a response to the operations carried out by Sana’a government forces aimed at pressing for the lift of the blockade imposed on Yemen, asserting that any new ground escalation would be met with an appropriate military response.
These developments come amid escalating tension between both sides and ongoing reciprocal military operations, alongside regional and international anticipation regarding the trajectory of the confrontation and the potential widening of the scope of escalation in the coming period
