NYN | News:
The Sanaa government announced on Sunday that the number of fighters in its forces has reached around one million, “ready to engage in any upcoming battle,” amid accusations leveled by the Sanaa government against the United States of arranging to mobilize the forces of the Aden government allied with the Saudi-led coalition and ignite fronts in Yemen, and wage a ground war.
This was stated by the Minister of Information in the Sanaa government and its spokesperson, Dhaifallah al-Shami, in an interview with Al Mayadeen channel.
Al-Shami said: “They have nearly a million fighters, ready to fight against any aggression.”
Regarding the announcement of the Sanaa government forces entering what they called the fourth stage of escalation against “Israel” to support Palestinian factions, including targeting Israeli ships and those associated with them in the Mediterranean Sea if Rafah is invaded, al-Shami says: “Any entity in the world with ties to the Zionist entity will have its trade affected and will be a target for our armed forces.”
Adding: “We have no special demands regarding supporting our brothers in Palestine.”
He continued: “All kinds of temptations were offered to the people and leadership in Yemen in exchange for stopping support to Palestine, but we do not see any value in these temptations.”
Regarding the circulating news that there are indications of closing the Hamas office in Qatar, the spokesperson for the Sanaa government confirms that: “If Hamas leaders abroad are excluded from any country, we welcome them and open our doors to all mujahideen in Sanaa.”
Since November last year, the Sanaa government forces have been carrying out military operations against “Israel,” preventing Israeli or associated ships from crossing the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea before expanding their operations to include part of the Indian Ocean. Recently, they announced the beginning of the fourth stage of their operations, threatening to target Israeli ships in the Mediterranean Sea if Rafah is invaded, conditional on stopping their operations to “end the aggression on Gaza and lift the siege,” according to military statements broadcasted by the spokesperson for the Sanaa government forces, Yahya Saree, following the implementation of any military operation.
The European Union announced on February 19, 2024, the launch of a military operation named “Aspidus,” led by Italy in the Red Sea, while the United States announced the launch of an operation named “Guardian of Prosperity,” aiming to counter attacks launched by Sanaa government forces against “Israel,” in addition to airstrikes carried out by the United States and Britain in Yemen, prompting the Sanaa government forces to include American and British ships, whether commercial or military, in the targeting circle and preventing them from crossing the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea.
