An investigative report published by the Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth has exposed what it described as a systematic misinformation campaign led by the political leadership within the Israeli occupation entity, supported by factions within the military and security establishments, to present a distorted picture of the outcomes of military operations against Iran.
Claims of “Total Destruction” Contradict Intelligence Assessments
According to the investigation, Israeli Occupation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump promoted a narrative claiming the “total destruction” of Iranian nuclear facilities and the elimination of the Iranian missile threat.
However, Israeli and US intelligence assessments, according to the newspaper, did not support these claims. They confirmed that the scale of damage inflicted on the Iranian nuclear program did not amount to its complete eradication, and that Iran’s core capabilities remain intact.
Pressure on the Atomic Energy Commission
The investigation pointed out that intelligence officials refused to sign off on reports supporting the official narrative because they did not match the realities on the ground, before subsequent pressure was exerted on the Israeli Atomic Energy Commission to issue a document aligned with the government’s rhetoric.
The newspaper confirmed that Iranian fissile materials are still present, and that Tehran retains the capacity to resume its nuclear program within a limited timeframe.
Iranian Missile Capabilities Un-destroyed
The investigation added that security assessments did not support claims regarding the elimination of the Iranian missile threat or the existence of an active program to produce a nuclear weapon, noting that a large portion of Iran’s missile infrastructure remained intact following the military operations.
It also highlighted that the Israeli military establishment concealed the results of internal assessments which showed that the declared goals of the war had not been achieved.
Failure of the Goal to Overthrow the Iranian Regime
In a related context, the investigation confirmed that the goal of overthrowing the Iranian regime, which was put forward during the round of confrontation in early 2026, ended in failure, despite reservations and objections raised by Israeli intelligence agencies against this plan from the very beginning.
The newspaper concluded that talk of eradicating Iran’s nuclear scientific apparatus does not reflect reality, as losses were limited to a small number of scientists, while the scientific and technical infrastructure of the nuclear program remains capable of continuing its work.
