Hebrew Media: Israel Failed to Separate Iran from Hezbollah as Tehran Deepens Rift Between Tel Aviv and Washington
Israeli reports reveal a widening gap with the U.S. administration following Washington’s efforts to contain escalation in Lebanon and preserve the diplomatic track with Iran.

An Israeli military analyst has acknowledged that Israel failed to achieve one of its key strategic objectives: isolating Iran from Lebanon’s Hezbollah. He stated that Tehran, by contrast, has succeeded in establishing a new political reality that has contributed to widening disagreements between Tel Aviv and Washington.
Israel’s Channel 15 quoted military analyst Guy Azriel as saying that Israeli efforts to separate Iran from its regional allies had failed to produce the desired results. He noted that recent developments demonstrated Tehran’s ability to strengthen its political and regional position despite ongoing pressure.
U.S. Pressure to Contain Escalation
These remarks came after Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced the renewed closure of the Strait of Hormuz in response to what it described as Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon. The move reportedly prompted the United States to intervene and pressure the Israeli government to prevent a broader escalation of the conflict.
In the same context, Israel’s Kan broadcaster reported that the U.S. administration had sent direct messages to Tel Aviv urging it to avoid military actions that could ignite the Lebanese front or undermine ongoing diplomatic efforts with Iran.
Washington Committed to the Diplomatic Track
According to the broadcaster, Washington reiterated that it supports what it describes as Israel’s right to “self-defense,” but opposes military operations that could jeopardize the current political process or derail the anticipated talks between the United States and Iran in Switzerland, particularly if such actions are undertaken without prior coordination with the American side.
Growing Rift Between Tel Aviv and Washington
Israeli observers believe that these developments reflect an increasing divergence between the priorities of the U.S. administration, which is focused on advancing diplomatic solutions and reducing regional tensions, and those of the Israeli government, which seeks to maintain military pressure on forces associated with the so-called Axis of Resistance in the region.
Israeli assessments suggest that if this divergence continues, political disagreements between the two sides could deepen in the coming period, especially amid the region’s rapidly changing dynamics and ongoing international efforts to prevent the outbreak of a wider confrontation.
