Iran issued a strongly-worded warning on Saturday to the United States and “Israel” against any potential targeting of the funeral procession of the late Iranian leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, emphasizing that any hostile act will be met with a decisive retaliatory response by the Iranian Armed Forces.
The commander of the “Khatam al-Anbiya” Central Headquarters stated that Tehran is closely monitoring any potential movements or threats, warning Washington and Tel Aviv against making any “miscalculation” or taking escalatory steps that affect the funeral procession or its surrounding environment.
Military Readiness to Respond
The Iranian military official confirmed that the Iranian Armed Forces are in a state of full combat readiness to deal with any threat targeting the country’s security or the funeral procession, stressing that any aggression will be met with “harsh and decisive” retaliatory measures.
Warning Against Escalation
He added that the Iranian message to hostile parties is clear and direct, calling for the avoidance of any escalation that would increase tension in the region, and asserting that Tehran will not tolerate any attempt to infringe upon its sovereignty or target its national symbols.
These warnings come amid a tense regional atmosphere and mounting fears of the region sliding into a broader confrontation, at a time when political and security circles are closely anticipating the repercussions of any new developments between Iran, the United States, and “Israel.”
