A recent Israeli report has warned of growing signs of international isolation facing Israel, asserting that the continuation of current policies could push the country into a deep strategic crisis on both the economic and diplomatic fronts.

Israeli writer Avi Ben Har, in a report published by the website Zman Israel, argued that international isolation does not usually emerge through sudden decisions or comprehensive boycotts. Rather, it develops gradually through a series of cumulative measures that may appear separate on the surface but collectively create an escalating trajectory of international pressure.

Six Gradual Stages of Isolation

According to the report, the first stage consists of the continued weakness or breakdown of relations with a number of Arab and Muslim countries. The second stage is reflected in the expansion of academic, cultural, and economic boycott campaigns led by international organizations and movements supportive of the Palestinian cause.

The report added that the third stage has emerged through Western sanctions imposed on Israeli individuals and organizations linked to settlement activities or alleged violations against Palestinians. The fourth stage, meanwhile, is characterized by political measures, sanctions, and unprecedented restrictions targeting prominent ministers and officials within the Israeli government.

Western Measures Beyond Political Criticism

The report stated that the fifth stage involves some Western countries moving beyond political criticism to concrete actions, including downgrading diplomatic relations and imposing restrictions on arms deals and economic activities connected to Israeli settlements.

It emphasized that these measures reflect a noticeable shift in the positions of certain Western governments toward Israeli policies, amid increasing domestic and international pressure demanding tougher stances.

Europe: The Greatest Challenge for Israel

According to the report, the sixth and most serious stage would involve reconsideration of the extensive trade and scientific cooperation agreements between Israel and the European Union. Calls for such a step are reportedly gaining momentum within a number of European countries and political parties.

The author warned that any deterioration in economic relations with the European Union would have significant consequences for the Israeli economy, given that Europe is Israel’s largest trading partner. He noted that intensified boycotts or reduced economic cooperation could result in losses amounting to billions of euros annually.

Fears of a Historic Predicament

The report concluded that Israel is facing an accelerating path toward international isolation that continues to grow over time. It warned that maintaining the current approach could lead to a historic predicament that would be difficult to overcome, particularly as criticism and sanctions expand and Israel’s ability to contain external pressures declines.
