Mehr News Agency revealed that dozens of commercial ships and oil tankers continued transiting through the Strait of Hormuz over the past three days, as part of the measures announced by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to regulate and secure navigation in the strategic waterway.

The agency stated that nearly 100 vessels crossed the strait between Friday and Sunday after direct coordination with the relevant Iranian authorities and obtaining transit permits from the IRGC Navy, which in turn provided protection and security escorts for the vessels during their passage.

33 Vessels Crossed on Sunday

According to the report, Sunday witnessed the passage of 33 different vessels, including oil tankers, container ships, and other commercial vessels, after completing security coordination procedures and obtaining the required permits.

On Saturday, 25 vessels reportedly crossed the strait, while Friday saw the passage of 35 ships and tankers of various types, indicating the continued flow of maritime traffic despite escalating regional tensions.

Iranian Messages Regarding Maritime Security

The Iranian agency considered the continued movement of vessels through the strait as evidence of the willingness of international shipping companies to cooperate with Iran’s new arrangements, particularly if vessels are not subjected to what it described as “harassment or acts of piracy” by U.S. naval forces in the region.

This comes amid escalating military and political tensions in the Gulf region, where the Strait of Hormuz is considered one of the world’s most important maritime routes for oil transportation and international trade.
