Raghad Saddam Hussein, the eldest daughter of the late Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, called on the Yemeni people not to be dragged behind rumors and narratives she described as “false,” emphasizing that there are factions seeking to stir up discord and confusion by promoting completely baseless information.
In a recently published statement, Raghad stated that she calls upon “our brothers in Yemen not to allow these fabricated stories to drag them into disputes that do not exist on the ground, and not to grant rumor-mongers the opportunity to achieve their goals of spreading discord.”
Renewed Denial of Circulating Narratives
Raghad Saddam Hussein renewed her denial of what is being circulated regarding the existence of a sister of hers in Yemen, confirming that these claims have previously been officially denied on more than one occasion and were debunked with documents and evidence.
She added that some individuals still insist on re-circulating these imaginary stories despite the issuance of clear statements denying them, considering that exploiting names and history to achieve fame or stir up controversy represents behavior that harms the truth and serves to spread misinformation.
Warning Against the Exploitation of Names and History
Raghad emphasized that exploiting her family’s name or history to manufacture false stories does not serve the truth, urging Yemenis and Arabs to exercise caution and avoid turning into tools used against their countries by promoting unverified information.
She also denied claims made by a woman regarding her residence in a house inside Yemen belonging to her family, clarifying that the house in question belongs to the family of her uncle, Sabawi, and that this matter had been clarified previously.
A Call to Uphold Media Responsibility
Concluding her statement, Raghad Saddam Hussein stressed the importance of verifying information before publishing or re-circulating it, calling on everyone to uphold moral and professional responsibility toward what is being shared across media outlets and social media platforms to avoid contributing to the spread of rumors and the incitement of discord among the people of the Arab nation.
