Official Admission Exposes the Nature of Military Cooperation

The Israeli Minister of Communications and member of the Political-Security Cabinet (Cabinet), Miri Regev, has revealed that the United Arab Emirates has officially received interceptor missiles and defense equipment belonging to the Israeli “Iron Dome” system. This move marks the first public confirmation by a high-ranking Israeli official regarding the supply of this type of sensitive military system to a Gulf state.

The Hebrew newspaper Maariv quoted Regev as saying that the UAE views the ballistic missile threat as one of the most prominent security challenges it faces, which prompted it to utilize Israeli defense technologies to enhance its capabilities in protecting its strategic facilities.

Transfer of Defense Batteries During Operation “Lion’s Roar”

In the same context, Israeli Channel 14 reported, quoting security sources, that Israel transferred batteries and equipment from the “Iron Dome” system to the UAE during the “Lion’s Roar” military operation, emphasizing that this step represents a remarkable shift in the level of cooperation between the two sides.

This announcement is viewed as the first explicit and official admission by an Israeli political and security official regarding the provision of advanced military equipment to Abu Dhabi, reflecting the transition of bilateral relations from a phase of coordination and security information sharing to a deeper level that includes the direct transfer of defense systems and military hardware.

Strategic Implications Transcending Traditional Normalization

Observers believe that these statements reveal a new dimension of the nature of the relations established under the framework of the “Abraham Accords,” which have crossed the boundaries of political and economic cooperation to encompass advanced security and military partnerships.

According to analysts, these developments also indicate the efforts of a number of regional countries to reshape their security arrangements in light of escalating regional challenges—foremost among them the growth of Iranian missile capabilities—which is driving the construction of new defense alliances with increasing strategic dimensions.
