Washington Backs Down: CENTCOM Announces End of Naval Blockade on Iran and Cessation of All Military Operations
CENTCOM confirms it will no longer intercept ships bound for Iranian ports and announces the termination of blockade measures under Trump’s directives

NYN | Reports and Analyses
The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Thursday the complete lifting of the naval blockade imposed on Iran, confirming the cessation of all military activities associated with restricting maritime traffic to and from Iranian ports.
In an official statement, CENTCOM said that U.S. forces had removed the restrictions imposed on vessels entering and leaving Iranian ports, in accordance with directives issued by U.S. President Donald Trump.
The statement confirmed that U.S. naval forces would no longer intercept any vessel heading to Iran or departing from its ports, noting that all military operations aimed at enforcing the maritime blockade against Tehran had been halted.
CENTCOM added that U.S. naval assets would continue to maintain a neutral presence in the region to monitor the implementation of the agreement and ensure that all parties adhere to the terms that had been reached.
Agreement Ends War and Blockade
The U.S. announcement follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding between U.S. President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, aimed at ending the war and blockade imposed on Iran and opening a new chapter of mutual understanding between the two sides.
According to reports circulating about the agreement, it includes a gradual lifting of sanctions imposed on Tehran, the restoration of a substantial portion of Iranian assets frozen abroad, and the establishment of a special fund to compensate for damages caused by the war, with contributions from the United States and its allies in the Gulf region.
Resumption of Navigation Through the Strait of Hormuz
The agreement also stipulates guarantees for freedom of navigation and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to commercial shipping without obstacles, contributing to the stability of global trade flows and regional energy supplies.
Observers view the announcement of the lifting of the naval blockade as a significant turning point in relations between Washington and Tehran after more than three months of military escalation and growing regional tensions.
